Iran, a country with an appalling human rights record, advocates [successfully] a permanent UN Human Rights Council agenda item on Israel. Only a few years ago, Iran defeated the renewal of the mandate of a UN investigator on Iranian human rights abuse. Another example of how the UN serves human rights abusers - in the name of human rights.
