The Mandate

The McGowan-Davis Goldstone Follow-up Mandate, September 29, 2010

The mandate of the McGowen-Davis Committee was established by UN Human Rights Council Resolution 15/6, adopted on September 29, 2010. It is entitled: "Follow-up to the report of the Committee of independent experts in international humanitarian and human rights law established pursuant to Council resolution 13/9". It states:

    "Human Rights Council... Decides to renew and resume the mandate of the Committee of independent experts, established pursuant to Council resolution 13/9, and requests the Committee to submit its report to the Council at its sixteenth session, and requests the High Commissioner to continue to provide the members of the Committee with all administrative, technical and logistic assistance required to enable them to fulfil their mandate promptly and efficiently".


The Tomuschat Goldstone Follow-up Mandate, March 25, 2010

The mandate of the Tomuschat Committee was established by UN Human Rights Council Resolution 13/9, adopted on March 25, 2010. It is entitled: "Follow-up to the report of the United Nations Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on the Gaza Conflict".

    "Human Rights Council... Decides, in the context of the follow-up to the report of the Independent International Fact-Finding Mission, to establish a committee of independent experts in international humanitarian and human rights laws to monitor and assess any domestic, legal or other proceedings undertaken by both the Government of Israel and the Palestinian side, in the light of General Assembly resolution 64/254, including the independence, effectiveness, genuineness of these investigations and their conformity with international standards".
