Rotherham Town Hall

"A story of rampant child abuse-ignored and abetted by the police-is emerging out of the British town of Rotherham. Until now, its scale and scope would have been inconceivable in a civilized country. Its origins, however, lie in something quite ordinary: what one Labour MP called 'not wanting to rock the multicultural community boat.'

"Imagine the following case. A fourteen-year old girl is taken into care by the social services unit of the town where she lives, because her parents are drug-addicted, and she has been neglected and is not turning up in school. She is one of many, for that is the way in Britain today. And local government entities-Councils-can be ordered by the courts to stand in for parents of neglected children. The Council places the girl in a home, where she is kept with others under supervision from the social services department. The home is regularly visited by young men who try to entice the girls into their cars, so as to give them drugs and alcohol, and then coerce them into sex..."

One of countless ISIS victims

On August 29, 2014 the UN Human Rights Council released a draft resolution which is scheduled to be adopted on September 1 during a special session of the Council. The session is to address: "The human rights situation in Iraq in light of abuses committed by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant and associated groups."

The draft resolution - pushed by the United States among others - congratulates the UN and Iraqi partners (ie the United States) for helping the Iraqi national authorities, notwithstanding the horrors already endured, and the continuing onslaught against Yazidis, Christians and other minorities.

Despite the obvious urgency of the ISIS threat, the resolution requests a report on violations of human rights law in Iraq for presentation seven months from now in March 2015.

And the resolution focuses on Iraq and never mentions ISIS operations in Syria, as if the terrorist organization recognizes or cares about state boundaries.

On August 27, 2014 al-Qaeda-linked terrorists kidnapped 43 United Nations peacekeepers, all Fiji nationals, inside Syria. Reuters reports that "it is the third time in two years that UNDOF troops [the U.N. force that has monitored the disengagement zone between Israel and Syria since the 1973 Arab-Israeli War] have been seized on the Syrian side of the demarcation zone...." As for Israel, "We're not doing anything, we're just watching," said an Israeli officer."

So while the UN system spends far more time condemning Israel than any other state, UN peacekeepers in the Middle East fear for their lives only from Arab and Muslim actors.

Pu Zhiqiang

Human rights lawyer Pu Zhiqiang could be charged with "collusion" with foreign powers, and get ten years in prison.

Chinese police questioned the dissident about meetings with a former US ambassador to China, his frequent trips to Japan, and his online "insults" against senior officials, including Mao's grandson.

Pu's lawyer Zhang Sishi said that in February Pu met Ambassador Locke who had asked him to share his views on human rights.

Beijing police questioned Pu about his frequent trips to Japan, asking him "why he traveled to Japan four times every year", Zhang said. The reason is that Pu's son studies in Japan.

Mariam al-Sadiq al-Mahdi

Sudan's National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS) arrested 16 activists who are part of the "No to oppression of women" initiative during their vigil in front of the Omdurman women's prison on Thursday, to demand the release of deputy chairman of the National Umma Party (NUP) Mariam al-Sadiq al-Mahdi.

Meriam Al-Mahdi is the daughter of the National Umma Party leader al-Sadiq al-Mahdi (AFP) The police dispersed the gathering using tear gas.

On August 12th, the Sudanese security services arrested Mariam as she returned from Paris following the signing of the Paris Declaration with the Sudan Revolutionary Forces (SRF).

NCP officials suggested that she might face charges of spying and signing agreements with rebel groups particularly as the SRF is classified as an "enemy".

"A Grand Ayatollah in Iran has determined that access to high-speed and 3G Internet is 'against Sharia' and 'against moral standards.' In answer to a question published on his website, Grand Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi, one of the country's highest clerical authorities, issued a fatwa, stating 'All third generation [3G] and high-speed internet services, prior to realization of the required conditions for the National Information Network [Iran's government-controlled and censored Internet which is under development], is against Sharia [and] against moral and human standards.'

He added that 'Judicial officials must not remain indifferent about this vital issue.'

Internet access has been an ongoing struggle between Iran's hardliners, who retain key bases of power in the judicial, intelligence and security branches of government and wish to maintain strict censorship and control over all information, and the 42 million Iranians-some 55% of the population-who use the Internet. Internet speed is a critical weapon in this battle, as the authorities frequently slow the speed of the Internet as a means to render it effectively useless, thereby depriving the citizenry of the online access it needs for professional, educational, and commercial use."

Screenshot of Ansar Bayit al-Maqdis terrorists decapitating alleged Mossad spies

"A Sinai-based militant group said on Thursday it had beheaded four Egyptians, accusing them of providing Israel with intelligence for an airstrike that killed three of its fighters. Four headless corpses were found in the Sinai Peninsula earlier this month, security sources said -- the first time that any decapitations had been made public in Egypt. The men had been abducted by gunmen two days earlier while driving in the town of Sheikh Zuwaid, which is just a few kilometers (miles) from the Gaza Strip. In a video released on Twitter, Egypt's most dangerous militant group, Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis, said the four men had been spying for Israel's Mossad spy agency. Armed men in black masks stood over the kneeling captives as one of the militants read out a statement. Minutes later, the four men had their heads cuts off."

UN Human Rights Council, Geneva, Switzerland

At the urging of the United States, Russia, Saudi Arabia and the EU, the UN Human Rights Council has decided to hold a "special session" on Iraq. The title is "the human rights situation in Iraq in light of abuses committed by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant and associated groups." It will take place on September 1, 2014. The move comes after the Council ignored abuses by the terrorist organization Hamas over the past three months and instead held a special session in July to condemn Israel for exercising its right of self-defense. Picking and choosing among terrorist favorites is a Council specialty - that has nothing to do with human rights.

Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al-Saud

"A person has been put to death in Saudi Arabia almost every day this month with the country expected to have added to that figure with the execution of its 23rd inmate yesterday...

[T]here has been a surge in executions in Saudi Arabia since the end of Ramadan on July 28, with 22 executions taking place between August 4 and August 22, compared to 17 executions between January and July this year...

A deadly August is just the tip of the iceberg for Saudi Arabia which executed more than 2000 people between 1985 and 2013, figures provided by the human rights group reveal. According to them, trials in capital cases are often held in secret and defendants are given no or insufficient access to lawyers.

And people in Saudi can be executed for a range of crimes including adultery, armed robbery, apostasy, drug-related offences, rape, witchcraft and sorcery.

Most executions are done by beheading and many take place in public.

In some cases decapitated bodies are left lying on the ground in public squares as a 'deterrent'."

The findings to date

1. This document is the fourth in a series of publications of the Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center (ITIC), as part of a project examining the names of the Palestinians killed in Operation Protective Edge. The project's goal is to ascertain the identity of the Palestinians killed during Operation Protective Edge, to determine which of them are terrorist operatives and which are non-involved citizens, and to examine the ratio between them.

2. The number of names of those killed, examined by the Information Center to date, is around 600, about 30% of the Palestinians killed to date. The examinations carried out by the Information Center are based on the names on the Palestinian Health Ministry's lists, despite the reliability problems and deficiencies found in them. From these lists we have removed duplicate names and have added a number of terrorist operatives who do not appear on them (both for technical reasons and as a result Hamas's policy of concealment and deception). We have examined a total of 667 names of those killed.

3. Weighting the findings of the current examination and the findings of the three previous examinations (detailed in the previous documents) yields the following results:

  • A. 273 of those killed were terrorist operatives(65 + 66 + 71 + 71).

  • B. 316 of those killed were non-involved civilians (76 + 93 + 66 + 81).

  • C. The identity of 78 people who were killed is unknown at this stage (34 + 26 + 15 + 3). Therefore, it is not possible to determine whether they were terrorist operatives or non-involved civilians.

  • D. Of the 589 dead who could be identified on the three lists that were examined, terrorist operatives constitute approximately 46% of the names. Non-involved civilians constitute approximately 54% of the names. This ratio may vary as the ITIC continues to examine the names of those killed.

    Mary McGowan-Davis

On August 25, 2014 the Muslim president of the UN Human Rights Council, Baudelaire Ndong Ella of Gabon, appointed a person heavily involved in prior UN anti-Israel activities to the new UN kangeroo court on events in Gaza.

From June 2010 till December 2011 Mary McGowan Davis was a member of the Goldstone "follow-up" commission and from December 2010 till March 2011 she chaired the commission. The Goldstone follow-up commission produced two reports calling for the implementation of the notorious Goldstone report which alleged that Israel intentionally targeted civilians during the 2008/2009 defensive operation known as Operation Cast Lead. Israel was finally responding to eight years of relentless Hamas rocket fire on Israeli civilian population centers.

Though Goldstone himself later retracted the slander, McGowan Davis championed it wholeheartedly.

McGowan-Davis is also on the board of the American Association for the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ).

Throughout her tenure as a board member, the ICJ has been repeatedly connected with the Human Rights Council's campaign to vilify Israel over the 2009 Gaza war, the Goldstone report, its follow-up and the latest inquisition created by the Council on July 23, 2014.

During the Council's July 2014 Special Session, the ICJ called for the establishment of the new commission, and accused Israel of "disproportionate and indiscriminate attacks" in Gaza as well as "breaches of international humanitarian law" and "gross violations of human rights law" - the very issues McGowan-Davis is now charged with investigating.

Her evident lack of neutrality is exactly why she was selected to participate in Goldstone II.
