Islamic and Arab states are holding a first-ever global treaty on disability hostage as they attempt to insert diplomatic language for criticizing Israel into the text. The effort to insist that the treaty deal with "foreign occupation" is just one more example of their use of the UN vehicle to score political points at the expense of human rights victims everywhere.

None was officially charged with a crime, but a number of them were released only after their families paid high amounts of bail. ... Police in Taif caught a woman violating the law by being behind the steering wheel of a moving car, the Al-Jazirah newspaper reported yesterday. The woman, an Arab foreigner married to a Saudi man, was immediately arrested.
