U.S. UN Geneva Amb. Donahoe is singing the praises of one of the key anti-Israel bodies at the UN. Her two-pronged "evidence" of the Human Rights Council's functionality is this: (1) Qaddaf's Libya was suspended from membership. But that was after too many murders made it a trifle embarrassing that Qaddafi's Libya had been elected to the UN's top "human rights" body in the first place. (2) She also claims the Council's "action" on Syria is terrific. 70,000 ++ dead would disagree.

Iran and Turkey are demanding more influence on the UN Security Council. If antisemitism would promote the Security Council's mandate of "international peace and security" that might make sense.
President Obama is apparently concerned about "disagreements" - "large gaps within Israel" politics. That's rich coming from the belly of the beast in Washington.
Europe refuses to classify Hamas as terror organization after Bulgaria bombing, killing five Israelis. Needs more "evidence." How many deaths of Jews in Europe will it take?

U.N. Human Rights Council holds minute's silence for Chavez. The death of serial human rights violator Chavez was celebrated in the heart of the UN "human rights" machinery. "Chavez...worked tirelessly not only for his people, but for the betterment of the nations of Latin America and the Caribbean. . .Chavez has not died...he entered history a decade ago" Cuba's Ambassaor to the Council said.
"Some diplomats consider a few stiff drinks to be essential before United Nations budget negotiations. But the US ambassador for management and reform is sick of dealing with intoxicated counterparts-and he'd like them banned from budget negotiations..." Drunks spending your money at the UN; that explains a lot.

The concert featured Israeli pop singer Rita and her band. Rita, who was born in Iran, sang in Persian and Hebrew on the same stage Iranian President Ahmadinejad railed against Zionistic entities. She told the assembled her songs were about love. In a nutshell, the central contrast between Israel and its enemies.
UN Special Rapporteur on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms while Countering Terrorism - the name itself places protecting human rights opposite countering terrorism - said at the UN Human Rights Council that terrorists and their sympathizers and protoges are in dire need of immediate "confidence-building initiatives...and persuading Islamic civil society in these regions that the West was genuinely committed to upholding the rule of the law and respecting human rights." According to Rapporteur Emmerson, "It would take time for Western democracies to restore the confidence that was shattered among Muslim communities by the Central Intelligence Agency..."

A UN-facilitated side event featured speaker-after-speaker objecting to the existence of the UN member state of Israel. UN-accredited NGO BADIL said: "Deliberate policies of forcible transfer started in 1948...Zionists in 1948 established Israel...through attacks on civilians, massacres and other destruction and looting of property." Likewise, a Bedouin representative said: Israelis are "staying illegally in Palestine," and the Habitat International Coalition said it is "the Palestinian people who are the indigenous people." The UN-provided venue was also the scene of numerous efforts to demonize the Jewish state as racist, with speakers referring to Israel repeatedly as guilty of apartheid.
The UN Special Rapporteur on housing, Raquel Rolnik, visited Israel and the "Palestinian" territories in 2012 and today presented her Report at the UN "Human Rights" Council. Her report accuses Israel of racism, or in her words, "de facto segregation." That's rich, coming from someone who said in February 2012 at her news conference in Jerusalem, that Israel was guilty of a "strategy of Judaization".
