UN Press Release on final day of the annual session of the UN's top women's rights body reads: "The Secretary-General welcomes the outcome of the fifty-seventh session of the Commission on the Status of Women..." On Friday, March 15th CSW adopted only one resolution condemning a state for violating women's rights - anywhere in the world. Israel - for violating the rights of Palestinian women. Apparently, welcoming news to the highest echelons of the UN.

UN's top rights body posts draft resolution condemning Israel for harming Syrians. In the resolution, entitled "Human rights in the occupied Syrian Golan," the Human Rights Council "calls upon Israel to allow the Syrian population of occupied Syrian Golan to visit their families and relatives in the Syrian motherland." Fact-check: 90,000 dead, 2.5 million internally displaced, 750,000 refugees. Syrian refugees have even fled to Israel through the Golan Heights where they have received life-saving medical care. Nobody believes that the residents of the Golan are pining to rush into mother Syria.

Officials from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestinian Refugees are descending on Washington to try to make sure their clients don't feel any effects from budget cuts. After all, they're already treated differently than any other refugees. What's one more exception (at U.S. taxpayer expense)? In the meantime, they continue to resist Rep. Mark Kirk's effort just to count the actual number of Palestinian refugees.

Amnesty International: Human rights situations that require the Council's attention Development
The UN's top human rights body, the UN "Human Rights" Council, has been discussing "human rights situations that require the Council's attention." Require is the operative word, since the Council considers deserving states to be few and far between, while one whole agenda item is reserved for condemning Israel alone. So here's what states at the UN's top human rights body lined up to say - on your dime: China: "the Human Rights Council should abide by the principles of...equality and mutual respect, and that it should avoid politicization, as well as naming and shaming." Iran "drew attention to the large number of human rights violations by the United States...the United Kingdom, France...Canada." North Korea "said that the United States and Western countries continued to commit human rights violations." Belarus "was particularly alarmed about the situation of children in Sweden, Denmark and Finland."
UN-accredited NGOs are accredited by a committee that includes states like Sudan, Cuba and China. So NGOs are often so-called "GONGOs" – government organized NGOs. When the UN Human Rights Council talked about Iran, here's what these "NGOs" had to say: "Organization for Defending Victims of Violence said that the human rights situation in Iran should be viewed in the context of imposed military threats and economic and social sanctions...immense threats affecting Iran;" "Imam Ali's Popular Students Relief Society said that the effects of unilateral and coercive sanctions imposed on Iran, which came mainly from the United States and the European Union, had placed enormous pressure on the country." Islamic Women's Institute "said that three decades of human rights resolutions issued against Iran had only resulted in the deepening of mistrust and had reduced the possibility of mutual understanding. In addition, Iran had had to endure the most damaging and harshest sanctions." So the next time you see the NGO label, think twice about its independence and legitimacy.
On Tuesday, the UN Human Rights Council discussed the situation of human rights in Iran. Here is what passes for human rights-speak in UN circles. China criticized investigation of human rights in Iran as not being "constructive." Instead, "the Human Rights Council should uphold the principles of universality and objectivity and refuse the practice of politicization of human rights issues." Belarus said: "it considered country mandates to be politicized and selective" and the criticism of Iran to be "detrimental." Cuba said "the existence" of an investigator on human rights in Iran was "evidence of politicization and double standards." Zimbabwe said: "it did not subscribe to the imposition of country specific ...mandates because they tended to be prosecutorial, politicized and selective." Syria "condemned the singling out of specific States." Of course, none of these countries has any difficulties singling out Israel across the United Nations system. And, in case you're wondering, none of these diplomats even blushed.
The World Bank is once again blaming Israel for Palestinian economic failures (not the gangsters in charge). The Bank also points to a "protracted stalemate in the political process." A "stalemate" is a UN-euphemism for "Palestinians are the only party to have refused to negotiate for the past two-and-a-half years, and Palestinian-elected officials are sworn to Israel's destruction."
According to UN's own sources, two million children are "greatly suffering in Syria." But the UN Human Rights Council is lining up to adopt next week five times as many resolutions condemning Israel than Syria.
Syrian delegate to the UN Human Rights Council, Faisal al-Hamwi, told the UN Human Rights Council that criticism of his country's human rights record is unfair because it is "neglecting a proper reading of the complex geopolitical situation in the region." 70,000 dead and three million refugees and internally-displaced persons is just so darn complicated - and difficult to explain considering Israel isn't the "root cause."
Iranian semi-official Mehr news agency reports: "Iran plans to declare in the UN that it will never go after nuclear bombs," quoting Iranian Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi. The scary part is that most folks at the UN will be inclined to believe him.

In Yemen, the death sentence is still applied to juveniles. The child is covered by a blanket, a doctor points at the vicinity of the heart, and then the child is shot through the blanket until dead. Latest UN report on Syria says anti-government groups in Syria are targetting "the Christian community" for kidnapping and extortion. Bodes ill for Syria's Muslim future. At a press briefing on the affect the Syrian crisis is having on Palestinians, the Commissioner-General of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNWRA), Filippo Grandi, "noted that out of the $1.5 billion UN-wide humanitarian appeal put out in January, $90 million were, in fact, destined for UNRWA's relief efforts over the next six months." Moreover, Arab countries are denying Palestinians' refuge in their countries - they would rather keep Palestinians in harm's way. Otherwise, what tool would they have to demonize and destroy Israel? Now we know how the priority to everything-Palestinian at the UN works not only to the detriment of Israel, but human rights victims worldwide.

One more UN pre-determined "investigation" on another Israel "crisis" produces yet another report on Israel's violation of "law" as it acts to defend itself. So-called international "law" is being written for a party of one. Hamas rocket attacks on Israel's civilian population are called "flare-ups." Police stations of Hamas-run Gaza are "prima facie civilian". The UN report finds Israel Defense Forces "terrified and traumatized large segments of Gaza's population." (Causality turned upside down, since the population is not terrified by the terror organization using them as human shields in order to murder Jews.) And when it came to Israel, the UN finds Hamas rocket attacks "could have the aim of spreading terror among the civilian population." One rule for Israel and Jewish self-determination and another for everybody else.
