Daniel Pearl

Daniel Pearl was the Wall Street Journal reporter who was murdered by terrorists in Karachi, Pakistan, in early 2002. His last words were "I am Jewish." Daniel Pearl's great-grandparents had perished in the Auschwitz concentration camp 60 years earlier. Today his father, Judea, spoke at the United Nations and urged his listeners to recognize the evil of "Zionophobia" – the rejection of Israel as the historical homeland of the Jewish people.

Kofi Annan

Secretary-General Kofi Annan is in a mad scramble to prevent Iran's nuclear arms ambitions from being sent to the UN Security Council. "I am not sure that they will be ready to refer [Iran] to the Security Council if the official report of the board has not been released and deliberated upon by the board and a decisiontaken," Mr. Annan told Reuters on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos. In plain language, according to Annan, the previous UN reports which already reveal that Iran has failed to meet its obligations under the Nuclear Non-proliferation treaty, are now meaningless, and Iran's written public repudiation in early January of its treaty obligations needs further study. Wait for another UN report.

Mohamed ElBaradei

In mid-June of 2005 the United States capitulated over the appointment of Egyptian Mohamed ElBaradei to a third term as Director General of the IAEA. The appointment lasts until November 2009. ElBaradei had interfered in the 2004 U.S. election, artificially timing an announcement to produce maximum criticism of the Bush administration. During his term as Director General, India, Pakistan, and North Korea acquired nuclear weapons. Now he seeks to ensure that Iran achieves the same objectives. It was obvious that ElBaradei, once renewed, would follow this path and become a serious impediment to non-proliferation at a crucial time and yet the administration refused to just say 'no.' When will we ever learn?
