Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories: Richard Falk

Reuters "In 2004, Falk wrote the forward to "The New Pearl Harbor: Disturbing Questions About the Bush Administration and 9/11," a book written by David Ray Griffin, a Sept. 11 conspiracy theorist. Griffin's book argues that the Twin Towers may have been brought down by a "controlled demolition" - not by two airliners hijacked by Al Qaeda operatives - and that the Pentagon may not have been hit by a plane at all." Rapporteur's mandate:
"(a) To investigate Israel's violations of the principles and bases of international law, international humanitarian law and the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, of 12 August 1949, in the Palestinian territories occupied by Israel since 1967; ...(c) To report...until the end of the Israeli occupation of those territories..." "[T]he following general criteria will be of paramount importance while nominating, selecting and appointing mandate holders: (a) expertise; (b) experience in the field of the mandate; (c) independency; (d) impartiality; (e) personal integrity; (f) objectivity". Richard Falk already holds these views on Israel and the Israeli-Palestinian (Arab-Israeli) conflict :

• Israeli actions are analogous to that of the Nazis
• Hamas is not a terrorist organization
• Israeli deaths from Palestinian "extremism" are minimal
• Israel is engaged in a holocaust-in-the-making

"Is it an irresponsible overstatement to associate the treatment of Palestinians with...criminalized Nazi record of collective atrocity? I think not. The recent developments in Gaza are especially disturbing because they express so vividly a deliberate intention on the part of Israel and its allies to subject an entire human community to life-endangering conditions of utmost cruelty. The suggestion that this pattern of conduct is a holocaust-in-the-making represents a rather desperate appeal to the governments of the world and to international public opinion to act urgently to prevent these current genocidal tendencies...
