The McGowan Davis/Schabas Inquiry: The UN Legal Pogrom

Hamas and the United Nations

Genocidal ambitions

The Charter of a Terrorist Organization

Hamas, named for the Arabic acronym for "Islamic Resistance Movement," was founded in 1987, during the first Palestinian "intifada," meaning violent spate of attacks against Israel. Its goal, then and today, is to destroy Israel and create an Islamic Palestinian state in its place. Hamas is a violent and extreme manifestation of Palestinian nationalism, rooted in its opposition to peace.

Hamas has been declared a terrorist organization by the United States, as well as the European Union, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Japan and Israel.

The 1988 Covenant of Hamas calls explicitly for the destruction of Israel: "Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it." The Covenant continues: "There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are all a waste of time and vain endeavors."

The Hamas Covenant is also plainly antisemitic, calling for "struggle against the Jews" and for defeating the "plan of World Zionism," which it claims is "embodied in the Protocols of the Elders of Zion." The Covenant propounds bizarre conspiracy theories, alleging that "Freemasons, Rotary Clubs, the Lions and others" are all manipulated by Zionists to achieve world domination. And the Covenant says: "The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him salvation, has said: 'The Day of Judgement will not come about until Moslems fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Moslems, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him....'"

Gross Antisemitism Espoused by Hamas

The antisemitic nature of Hamas' leadership and program of action has been manifested over and over again - though repeatedly trivialized or ignored by the UN "human rights" system. Here are just a few examples:
  • August 28, 2014, Hamas Leader Khaled Mashal: "Israel Perpetrated a Holocaust Worse than Hitler's in Gaza," public address aired on Al-Quds TV:

"The Jewish victims or today, the Israeli victims who claim to be doing what they are doing because they are victims, have perpetrated a holocaust worse than the one perpetrated by Hitler. Israel has lost its monopoly over victimhood "

  • December 15, 2009, Hamas Leader Khaled Mash'al in a Tehran Mosque: "We Will Drive Them Out of the West Bank and All of Palestine," Al-Jazeera TV (Qatar):

"Khaled Mash'al: "When Israel was established, the Palestinian revolution broke out anew. We found British colonialism, and after 1948, the Palestinian revolution continued the resistance. The Palestinian people sacrificed all that was dear to it. The entire [Islamic] nation stood alongside the Palestinian people, and supported its revolution and its resistance to the occupation. Then came the first Intifada in 1987. Then came the second Intifada in 2000. Thus, the Palestinian people goes from revolution to revolution, from Intifada to Intifada, and from resistance to resistance. The Zionists and the people who are behind them think that the resolve of the Palestinian people will be broken, and that this people will weaken and surrender. But a people that has fought the Zionists and those behind them for 100 years, and continues to fight them, despite its limited capabilities, will be victorious, Allah willing. Even though these people are under siege, they manufacture weapons, develop the means of resistance, and have invented the heroic martyrdom operations...Let me remind you that the Palestinian cause is your cause just as it is the cause of every Palestinian, Arab, and Muslim that the Zionists are our enemy, and that Israel is everybody's enemy...

Crowd chants: With soul and blood, we will redeem you, Gaza.
With soul and blood, we will redeem you, Gaza.
With soul and blood, we will redeem you, Gaza.

Khaled Mash'al: ... The resistance on the land of Palestine will be victorious and will drive those Zionists out of our land. We have driven them out of Gaza... We will drive them out of the West Bank and all our Palestinian land, Allah willing. ...Our mission and your mission is to liberate Palestine, to regain Jerusalem, and to cleanse the Al-Aqsa Mosque. This will not be achieved by begging for alms, by relying on the enemies, or by the futile negotiations. It will be achieved by means of Jihad and resistance, and with Jihad and resistance come politics, and acts of popular struggle and all kinds of activity. But the resistance is the main thing."

  • November 8, 2006 Hamas spokesperson Ghazi Hamad:

"Israel should be wiped from the face of the Earth. It is an animal state that recognises no human worth. It is a cancer that should be eradicated."

  • July 31, 2001 Abdel Aziz al-Rantissi (Hamas leader March - April 2004) (Reuters):

I urge all the brigades the Israeli political leaders and members of parliament..."; "the Hamas political leadership has freed the hand of the brigades to do whatever they want against the brothers of monkeys and pigs."
